Should Ilie Nastase be permanently banned from the sport?

For the last few days Ilie Nastase managed to have himself cemented as true tennis’s persona non grata. The sports world has shockingly turned a blind eye to the ultraconservative views of one of its brightest sports personalities ever. Currently the sports world tends to consider Nastase to be just a funny old rogue.

However, over the course of the Fed Cup tie versus Great Britain, the legendary ytennis player in his role as the Romanian captain, unveiled how painfully out of touch he actually is with a bunch of off-key remarks.

Aside from abusing the referee as well as Johanna Konta using tough bad language, Nastase also dared to make rather an unpleasant gag regarding Serena Williams’ baby, having a white dad.

The player also asked Anne Keothavong, British Fed Cup captain for her room number and then broke into the press room, unleashing a tirade against a British reporter, using insulting words, such as “ugly” and “stupid.”

The International Tennis Federation immediately banned the tennis player after he had been kicked out of the premises due to his bad language.

Now the ITF is considering te strongest possible punishment for Nastase, including a permanent ban from tennis.
