The rumour has been going around for quite some time that Manchester United was interested to buy Atletico Madrid player Antoine Griezmann. Sky Sports claims to have sources that the deal is off the table.
The rumour has it that Manchester United is more interested in getting a high profile striker, since Zlatan Ibrahimovic has a long-term knee injury. Manchester United will be in need of a player who can score goals. New transfer targets could be Ajax’ Justin Kluivert, Everton’s Romelu Lukaku or Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski.
Last month Antoine Griezmann claimed on French television that he has a 6 out of 10 chance of moving to Manchester United this summer, although he gave higher odds on staying with Atletico Madrid.

Antoine Griezmann has a contract with Atletico Madrid until, but he has a €100 million (£87m) release clause in his contract. Any team that wants to buy Griezmann knows how much they have to put on the table. Atletico Madrid is scared to lose Griezmann, because they have a transfer ban this summer, so they can not buy another player to replace Griezmann.
If Griezmann would make a transfer this it would mean that he becomes the third most costly player in history, behind Paul Pogba and Gareth Bale.
