Champions Cup final will be refereed by Nigel Owens

On Saturday, 13 May, newly appointed Nigel Owens of Wales is about to have his 100th tournament match refereed when taking charge of the anticipated Champions Cup final, including ASM Clermont Auvergne as well as Saracens.

On Friday, 12 May, Ireland’s John Lacey has been appointed to have the Challenge Cup play, involving Gloucester Rugby as well as Stade Francais Paris refereed at the same venue. Meanwhile, Mike Adamson of Scotland’s going to be in the middle for the gathering of Krasny Yar and Enisei-STM in the all-Russian Continental Shield bout.

Today, EPCR’s selection committee has officially announced the appointments. The committee is chaired by Joel Jutge, the tournament organiser’s Head of Match Officials.

Currently, Owens, the world’s number one referee in terms of experience, took charge of the Champions Cup semi-final, involving Clermont and Leinster in Lyon and also the tournament quarter-final.
