Boost for Hockenheim

Hopes that Hockenheim can remain on the Formula One circuit were given a boost after positive talks between track officials and Bernie Ecclestone."There is a noticeable will on the part of Mr Ecclestone to keep Formula One at the Hockenheimring," said Karl-Josef Schmidt, financial chief executive for the track owners Hockenheim-Ring GmbH. Ross Brawn has told his Brawn GP team they will have to improve if they are to avoid being overtaken by Red Bull at the head of the Formula One constructors championship. Red Bull were in fine form at Silverstone nine days ago when they scored a notable one-two.That cut Brawns lead to 30.5 points at the head of the constructors championship ahead of next weekends German Grand Prix.

Valentino Rossi earned his 100th career victory as he romped to the Dutch MotoGP at Assen to go clear in the MotoGP world championship standings. The Italian came home ahead of Fiat Yamaha teammate Jorge Lorenzo, with Australias Casey Stoner, who initially led the race, finishing third.
Honda duo Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso crashed out from threatening positions on the same corner.
Their exits helped Britains James Toseland to sixth, his best result of the season.

Ben Spies is now just 14 points behind FIM World Superbike Championship leader Noriyuki Haga after scoring a double victory at Donington Park on Sunday. Spies was the only rider to claim two podium finishes with Haga suffering a heavy fall in race two.Max Biaggi, momentarily took the lead from Spies into turn one, then clashed with Alessandro Polita in his haste to rejoin the race and eventually finished 21st.

An agreement has been reached between motorsports governing body (FIA) and the Formula One Teams Association (FOTA) to end the salary cap feud that has threatened to tear Formula One apart. Max Mosley has announced that the Formula 1 governing body and the teams association have reached an agreement to avoid a breakaway series.
The news comes three days after the last official Silverstone Grand Prix threatened to be overshadowed when FOTA (formula one teams association) said that eight teams including Ferrari, McLaren and Renault would start a rival series if the FIA (Federation Internationale de Lrsquo;Automobile) didnrsquo;t compromise with regulations they were trying to set out for the 2010 championship.
