The Cheltenham Festival should perhaps be renamed, as the Irish festival for such was the dominance of Irish horses this year that other contenders simply threw their hats into the ring. War Of Attrition led the Irish effort with a spectacular win in the Gold Cup as the famous festival drew to a close.

This year's Cheltenham Festival has turned sour within the first three days, as eight horses have died. Organizers have decided to launch an investigation into the incidents after an animal rights group appealed to the public to shun the festival.

In a surprise move, Ladalko is to skip the Cheltenham Festival and go directly to compete in the Gala Casinos Daily Record Scottish Grand National. This move is clearly unexpected especially after his fourth place showing at Racing Post Chase at Sandown.

Tysou takes sweet revenge on Dempsey

LONDON - The unfortunate postponement of the Victor Chandler Handicap Chase last Saturday proved to just the thing for Tysou who shone at Sandown and won the £40,000 Grade Two competition. Bill Brown's horse performed admirably to leave behind his wife's Dempsey, who did not give up until the last moment.

Scottish Derby scrapped after being declared “financially disastrous”

The Scottish Derby has been removed from the fixtures list just three years after it was instituted as it was considered financially unviable by the managers at the Ayr racecourse. This decision was arrived at after the British Horseracing Board decided to postpone the race from July 17 to July 24 next year.

Our Vic signaled a return to the form which saw him rise to the top of the heap with an emphatic performance at Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham. Trainer Martin Pipe's charge was in excellent form and this had to be seen to be believed.
