Yuvraj guides India home as hosts take 3-0 lead
Cricket story by Vinnie Mitchell, Tue, 04 Apr 2006 12:12:00GMT

GOA - Andrew Flintoff's inexperienced England team lost for the third successive time in as many matches in the ongoing seven-match TVS Cup One-Day International series against India at Goa yesterday. England were without Kevin Pietersen who was taken ill on the morning of the match. If it was Suresh Raina who took away the game from the Englishmen in Faridabad, it was Yuvraj Singh who repeated the act in Goa.

India won the second one-day international at Faridabad on Friday defeating England by four wickets in what was a nail biting finish for the Indians after the top order once again failed to click. India were reduced to 92/5 by some very good balling by the rookie English bowlers but a 118 run partnership between Mahendra Dhoni and Suresh Raina steered India from a potential embarrassment.

MOHALI, India - It was a classic tale of old guard teaming up with new guard at Mohali on the fifth day of the second test between India and England. The old warrior Anil Kumble, who passed the 500-wicket landmark on Saturday, was ably assisted by debutant Munaf Patel as they wrapped up England's second innings for 181.

MOHALI, India - Steve Harmison appeared to have got back his flair for picking up wickets as he got Virender Sehwag edging one behind him as India made a bad start to their first innings in reply to England's 300 all out. The day though belonged to ace leg spinner Anil Kumble who became the fifth bowler and the first Indian to gain entry into the 500-wicket club.

Day 3: Hoggard picks up five wickets as India struggle
Cricket story by Georgina Scane, Fri, 03 Mar 2006 13:24:00GMT

NAGPUR, India - Matthew Hoggard was at his miserly best as England rocked India in the first session of Day 3 of the first Test at Nagpur. Starting the day on 136-1, India was in trouble early on as they lost skipper Rahul Dravid on 40 in the third over of the day. Replays showed that the ball could have missed the leg stump, but Aleem Dar upheld Hoggard's appeal.
