Semenya to keep gold medal

The IAAF have confirmed that South African Caster Semenya will almost certainly retain her World Championships 800m gold medal, irrespective of the outcome of gender tests.Communications Director Nick Davies has said that as the case is not drug-related, there is no ground for disqualification.
"This is a medical issue and not a doping issue where she was deliberately cheating," said Davies.

Four Jamaican athletes have admitted to taking a banned substance and now face sanctions.The quartet are Yohan Blake, Marvin Anderson, Allodin Fothergill and Lansford Spence.
Blake has recorded the fifth-fastest time over 100m this year and is Olympic champion Usain Bolts training partner.
Ransford Langrin, the chairman of The Jamaican Anti-Doping Appeals Tribunal, said: "We have to decide what is the sanction we apply - the minimum sanction is a reprimand or up to a two-year ban."
All four athletes were withdrawn by Jamaica...

Bolt pips Powell in Zurich

World and Olympic champion Usain Bolt has once again blown away a competitive field to win the 100m at the IAAF Golden League Weltklasse Zurich meeting.Bolt had to come from behind to beat fellow Jamaican Asafa Powell in a time of 9.81 seconds. Powell finished in 9.88, followed by American Darvis Patton at 9.95.
The Jamaican team led by Bolt later took victory in the 4x100m relay, clocking 37.70 to the USAs 37.73.

Britain enjoyed further success on the final day of the World Championships in Berlin as Lisa Dobriskey and the mens 4x400m relay team claimed silver medals.A controversial womens 1500m final saw Dobriskey promoted from third to second place, while a young relay team matched that performance to take Britains final medal haul to two gold, two silver and two bronze.

Great Britain have won their third medal of the World Championships in Berlin after Jenny Meadows won bronze medal in the 800 metres.A stunning finish looked likely to end in glorious failure but when the confirmed results came through it revealed that Meadows had snatched third place on the line in a new personal best of one minute 57.93 seconds.
