Roddick sends Nadal packing

Tennis story by sport.co.uk, Mon, 12 Apr 2010 09:43:42 GMT

Andy Roddick will take on Tomas Berdych in the final of the Sony Ericsson Open after overcoming Rafael Nadal in a thrilling semi-final.

Roddick came back from a set down to triumph 4-6 6-3 6-3 against the Spaniard after taking a more aggressive approach from the start of the second set.

"I took a lot of risk there in the last two sets. That's what I had to do," said Roddick, who had lost five of his previous seven meetings with the world number four.

"My comfort zone of moving the ball around and maybe chipping it around a little bit doesn't work against Rafa.

"I had to try to come up with something that at least took him out of his comfort zone a little bit and it paid off."

In the other semi-final in Miami, Tomas Berdych upset the odds to win 6-2 6-2 against fifth seed Robin Soderling.
