England to face Mexico and Japan

Football story by sport.co.uk, Thu, 04 Mar 2010 09:09:10 GMT

England will take on Mexico and Japan as they step up their preparations for this summer's World Cup Finals in South Africa.

The Football Association has confirmed the two friendly games and also a pre-tournament training camp in Austria which will form the backbone of head coach Fabio Capello's meticulous preparations.

Capello will announce a provisional squad on May 16 - the day after the FA Cup Final - before heading off to Austria for a training camp.

Players involved in the FA Cup or Champions League Finals will join up with the party when their club commitments have been completed.

The Three Lions will then head back to London to take on Mexico at Wembley on a date yet to be confirmed.

The squad will then return for Austria for the second part of their high-altitude training camp in Irdning before taking on Japan in Graz on Sunday May 30.

Capello will then name his final World Cup squad of 23 players on June 2 before jetting out to South Africa.
