Manchester United, Arsenal FC, Newcastle United, Chelsea FC, West Ham United, Liverpool FC and Manchester City have all thrived for one reason or other after they signed a player for their respective clubs. Sport.co.uk checks out the Top Ten: Influential Premier League signings.


The transfer that saw this mercurial striker arrive from Leeds United to Manchester United is arguably one of Sir Alex Ferguson’s greatest acts at the Old Trafford helm, while the Arsenal FC player in question, arrived at Highbury and proceeded to light up the Premier League for the best part of a decade. Alongside those Premier League luminaries is a Chelsea FC legend who is the darling of Stamford Bridge despite managing one of their bitter London rivals, while the Liverpool FC star listed remains one of the most feared strikers on the planet. West Ham United benefited from some Harry Redknapp wheeler-dealing, while Manchester City’s marquee signing paved the way for the likes of Carlos Tevez and Emmanuel Adebayor to follow suit.
