Spurs make Hawthorns capture following United raid

Football story by sport.co.uk, Thu, 04 Mar 2010 09:08:44 GMT

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that West Bromwich Albion’s Darren Eales will become Spur’s  new Club Secretary following Manchester United’s successful capture of current office holder John Alexander.

United and Spurs are usually more accustomed to doing business for players on the pitch rather than high-ranking staff with both Michael Carrick and Dimitar Berbatov making the move from White Hart Lane to Old Trafford in recent years.

On leaving White Hart Lane, Alexander will replace Manchester United secretary Ken Ramsden, only the fourth man to hold the position for the Red Devils since the Second World War. Alexander has been Tottenham Hotspur club secretary since leaving Watford for their north London neighbours in 2000.

New Tottenham man Eales, who played professionally in the United States’ A-League, holds an economics degree from Brown University and is a Cambridge qualified Barrister who has spent six years in private practice dealing with sports, media and employment areas of law.

Revealing Tottenham’s latest signing, club chairman Daniel Levy stated:

"We are delighted that Darren has agreed to join the club. He brings with him excellent skills and a broad experience which will serve us well at a time when we are delivering a state-of-the-art new training facility."
