Shahzad debut impresses Collingwood

Cricket story by sport.co.uk, Tue, 23 Feb 2010 08:52:38 GMT

Captain Paul Collingwood was full of praise for debutant Ajmal Shahzad, following England's four-wicket defeat in their second Twenty20 international against Pakistan in Dubai.

Shahzad took two wickets in his opening over on the international stage, before coming in for heavy punishment as Abdul Razzaq smashed 46 not out from 18 balls to ensure the two-match series ended 1-1.

Collingwood said: "He's come in against the world's best Twenty20 side and it's not easy when you're bowling against guys like that.

"But he's got the talent and he certainly has the pace and the aggression to go with it. When you've got a combination like that you learn all the time.

"He'll learn a hell of a lot from this experience. I know he enjoyed it, which is a good thing. He certainly didn't shy away from it. He's got all the attributes (to do well)."
