Gasquet to learn his fate

The Court of Arbitration for Sport is set to announce whether Richard Gasquet will have to serve an extended doping suspension.

The 23-year-old Frenchman failed a test for cocaine in March and was forced to serve a two-and-a-half-month ban.

After explaining that the drug was only in his system because he had kissed a woman at a nightclub, the International Tennis Federation's independent disciplinary panel cleared him in July.

However, the ITF and the World Anti-Doping Agency have since appealed against the decision and want Gasquet to be handed a further two-year suspension.

A statement read: "The Court of Arbitration for Sport will issue its decision in the arbitration procedure between the International Tennis Federation, the World Anti-Doping Agency and the French tennis player Richard Gasquet on Thursday, December 17 2009 at 5.30pm."
