Smith wont rule out changes

Rugby story by sport.co.uk, Mon, 16 Nov 2009 09:03:54 GMT

England coach Tony Smith has admitted he could tinker with a winning side after refusing to rule out minor changes to his starting line-up for Saturday's Four Nations Final against Australia.

Smith has named the same 17-man squad which overcame New Zealand 20-12 to book their place in the Elland Road showpiece last weekend.

Youngsters Sam Tomkins and Kyle Eastmond were again named as the half-back pairing, while Leeds Rhinos captain Kevin Sinfield is likely to start at hooker.

Peter Fox has been named on the wing after his two tries against the Kiwis, while Chris Bridge was given the nod at centre in the initial starting line-up.

However, with the 26-16 defeat to the Kangaroos earlier in the competition still fresh in his memory, Smith has revealed he could make minor changes to his starting line-up.

"We're not positive who will start but it will be from that 17," he said.

"We analysed everybody's performances and decided to stick with the players from last week and give them a chance to build on some continuity."
