AS Roma captain Francesco Totti has revealed he came close to quitting the club.

The 32-year-old playmaker has spent his entire career with the Giallorossi making almost 500 appearances, but came close to leaving in 2001 after they won the Scudetto.

"I had plenty of other chances and I did consider leaving after we won the Scudetto," he revealed.

"However, I met with the club and we cleared things up."

Now the former Italy international claims he has no plans to retire despite two injury-plagued seasons.

"Do I feel satisfied? I don't even know what that word means. I will not stop. The best is when you go beyond," he added.

"It's not about being hungry, but the will to carry on and stay motivated."
