Khan fight to go ahead

Boxing story by sport.co.uk, Mon, 29 Jun 2009 08:54:15 GMT

Amir Khan's bout against Andreas Koletnik will go ahead as planned, after rumours of the fight being cancelled were laughed off by Frank Warren Promotions. The contest was initially scheduled for Saturday but has been put back three weeks and moved to the MEN Arena after Kotelnik suffered a mouth infection.
However, rumours surfaced on boxing forums this week suggesting that the fight is off and Khan will now be matched against either John Murray or Shane Mosley.

But in a statement, Frank Warren Promotions described the claims as "totally false and without merit" and said they "should be disregarded".

The statement continued: "Dean Powell, matchmaker at Frank Warren Promotions, has spoken to Hedi Taouab and Stefan Braune at Universum, the promoter of Kotelnik, and they have denied these rumours."
