Eagles eager to move on after Terrell Owens

US Sport story by Fred Smith, Fri, 11 Nov 2005 12:32:00 GMT

PHILADELPHIA - Donovan McNabb, the Eagles starting quarterback has said that the team was trying very hard to put the Terrell Owens sag behind them and concentrate only on the game.

Speaking for the first time after Terrell Owens was shown the door, McNabb, who was the target of Owens' constant tirades said, “It's unfortunate what the end result was with him not being able to get on the football field with us, but you have to move on. Some things in life that you're a part of just don't go as well as you want them to.”

While there is no doubt that Owens is a fantastic player, there have been concerns about his vile attitude more specifically against McNabb. “You've never heard me say anything bad about him,” McNabb said. “You've never heard me say anything bad about the situation. I just continued to put that behind me and tried to move on.”

The Eagles are currently on the bottom of the list with a 4-4 record and barring a miracle are out of the playoffs. Last year, Owens and McNabb had combined to take the Eagles to the Super Bowl where they went down to the New England Patriots.

"We've done some great things," said McNabb about his partnership with Owens. "On the field, we did remarkable things. We could have set records. We could have won the Super Bowl together. I was looking forward to that. But our relationship kept going in the wrong direction, now it's time to make good work with the guys we have here."

Last Friday, Owens delivered a public apology and asked to be given another chance, "I thought it was a sincere apology. I thought it was unfortunate after the apology what happened after that. That maybe could have been solved early in the week. That's over, that's the past. We're moving on," McNabb said about the antics of Owens agent Drew Rosenhaus after the apology was delivered.
