Ex-Aston Villa and England defender, Ugo Ehiogu passes away

Ex-Aston Villa and England defender Ugo Ehiogu has passed away at the age of 44. That’s whatalrea Tottenham Hotspur have already revealed.

Previously working as Tottenham under-23s coach, on Thursday Ugo Ehiogu was taken to hospital right after collapsing at the Hotspur Way training ground.

John McDermott, Tottenham’s head of coaching and player development wrote on the club’s official website that words can’t express the whole sadness and shock they all feel about this. For them Ugo’s immense presence can’t be replaced. The club extends their heartfelt sympathies to his spouse Gemma as well as his family.

Born in Homerton, Ugo Ehiogu worked hard to become a true professional in the local team dubbed Senrab Football Club, where he played along with such sportsmen as Jermain Defoe, Ray Wilkins, John Terry, Bobby Zamora and Sol Campbell.

With more than 300 appearances he became a cult personage at Villa Park. However, ongoing knee issues hampered his later sports career. After Rangers, Leeds as well as Sheffield United he retired in 2009.
