Swindon Town’s official match report: missed relegation

On Saturday, Swindon Town were relegated from League One due to a 2-1 home loss to Scunthorpe. Evidently, the given defeat left the club five points adrift of safety with one play left.

However, one would have been hard-pressed to spot the intriguing details of their defeat, with the match report issued on the club’s official website telling nothing about it.

As follows from their website earlier this afternoon Town suffered a 2-1 loss to Scunthorpe United. That’s the beginning of the statement before providing a chronological account of events for 90 minutes.

The seventh paragraph stated that the Reds were aware of the fact they required a win to keep alive their survival expectations, though they didn’t make any reference to their recent inability to get that victory, focusing instead on such details as the “Rohan Ince’ stunning goal», which turned to be pure consolation.

By the way, in July 2015, Swindon Town had  media outlets banned from visiting press conferences, as the club decided that future interviews would be carried out by their own press officer, who would issue quotes through a mobile application.
