Recent bomb attack makes Dortmund consider withdrawing from the Champions League

Hans-Joachim Watzke, Borussia Dortmund chief executive has already claimed that the football club really considered withdrawing from this season’s Champions League. Such a thought followed a recent bomb attack on their teambus, leaving left defender Marc Bartra injured and hospitalized.

The entire football world was left awfully shocked when three explosions burst out near the bus with Dortmund’s team to its planned Champions League fixture against their counterpart Monaco on Tuesday.

In the wake of the horrible incident, Uefa made up its mind to have the fixture delayed until the following night stressing that the decision had been made in complete agreement with the football clubs as well as authorities.

Nevertheless, the decision to postpone the play right after the bomb attack was widely criticized.

Thomas Tuchel, Dortmund head coach considered this decision to be absurd. He also complained that his side felt awfully ignored over this rescheduling.
