Joe Anderson, the mayor of Liverpool has already accused Everton of slapping the city in the face by simply refusing to ban the reporters of The Sun from press conferences.
In February, Liverpool football club have the reporters banned from attending matches at Anfield to say nothing of press conferences at Melwood because of its coverage of the Hillsborough disaster.
Aside from that, the Sun were also deprived of the long-awaited access to interviews with the club’s manager Jurgen Klopp and football players. The decision was taken right after club directors held negotiations with the families of those folks who passed away in the tragedy of 1989.
Now Joe Anderson has urged Everton to show unity with the Reds for the sake of the city and join the Anfield club’s lead. On Twitter Anderson accused Everton of lack of action. He disliked the fact that the football club stood away from banning the newspaper from its press conferences and it should be considered to be an awful slap in the face of Liverpool.
