Giro Winner Tom Dumoulin honoured in The Netherlands

Tom Dumoulin won last weekend the Giro d’ Italia, thanks to his outstanding time trail skills. Tom Dumoulin outclassed all GC contenders during the last stage of the Giro, a time trail. On the final day Dumoulin moved up from a 4th position in the general classification to the first place. Dumoulin finished 31 seconds ahead of Colombian Nairo Quintana, after three weeks of cycling, covering over 3,500km.

Around 10,000 people came to the celebrations to honour Tom Dumoulin. The event was held in Maastricht, The Netherlands. Tom Dumoulin became a Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau during the celebration. Dumoulin shared the stage with the two other Dutch winners of a Grand Tour: Jan Janssen and Joop Zoetemelk.

After the ceremony, a ton of journalists wanted to know everything about Dumoulin. Therefore, every reporter could only ask one question. The result: a press conference that was quite random. Serious questions about his future as a GC contender are followed with rather unorthodox questions like if Dumoulin was able to eat spare ribs at a barbecue or that it did not fit in his healthy eating habits.

Local TV station L1 made the following video clip of the celbrations:
