Steve Finn has been enrolled in the England one-day squad for the two international internationals versus Ireland, though excluded from the squad for the Champions Trophy.
At 10am England’s chairman of selectors, James Whitaker announced the names at Edgbaston for two squads. To be exact up to 14 players are expected to take part in two one-day internationals versus Ireland next week. As for the absent players, these are Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler and Chris Woakes – they’re taking part in the IPL.
England’s primary objective is to have Bangladesh defeated on June 1 in the tournament opener at the Oval. That’s a sharp, short competition. It has nothing common with the long-winded World Cup. Obviously, for England any slip-up versus Bangladesh is absolutely unacceptable.
If England were to be outperformed by Bangladesh, this team would have to win their remaining two plays for the purpose of qualifying for the semi-finals. Moreover, they’ll have to withstand New Zealand, a capable counterpart in global tournaments.
